Beyond using a MAC address, Mac OS X provides a separate mechanism for Bluetooth communication: pairing the computer with a Bluetooth device. To pair a device:
This pairing creates a file in a device directory, such as
/dev/tty.Fluke2-0950-Fluke2
With such files created, the Bluetooth connection
function rConnect allows two main options:
rConnect parameter may specify any part of a
Fluke serial number, provided the string is unique.
rConnect involves a sequential search through the
stored file names for Fluke pairings.
