The following pictures show several views from the tower crane.
Ariel pictures cover several sections, providing a wonderful overview of
the work in progress.
Western and West-Central Sections
|
Western section looking north: The concrete second floor provides a base
for columns and materials storage.
|
|
Western section looking north and slightly east: The columns on the left
rise above the finished second floor. Rebar is being placed on the shoring
for the central section on the right.
|
|
Western and central sections looking south-west: Rebar is being added to
the shoring in the central section (left); the concrete second floor is
poured on the west (right) section.
|
Central and Eastern Sections
|
Central and Eastern Sections: Looking from over the current science
building toward the Chiller Plant on the east. Shoring supports on the
east are covered with decking, and then by metal pans for flooring.
Proceeding down the picture, rebar is added to beam areas in the middle of
the picture, and rebar mats are in position for floors near the picture's
bottom. The edge of the courtyard is visible in the lower right.
|
Central Section - South: Looking southward from Eighth Avenue, rebar is
largely in place on the right, while decking forms are being finished on
the left.
|
|
North and Eastern Sections: Looking north from the crane's boom above the
existing Science Building. The stages of work (shoring, plywood decking,
metal decking, beam rebar, floor rebar) are seen from right to left.
