Science Phase 2: Ground-Level Views

Eighth-Avenue View

Eighth Avenue: Looking along Eighth Avenue from west to east.

Eighth Avenue: Another view along Eighth Avenue.
Along Eighth Avenue (3)
Eighth Avenue: The apron along Eighth Avenue, to the north of the construction, provides limited storage for supplies, such as these packs of 4" by 4" timbers for shoring.
West Section, First Floor (1)
West Section, First Floor: Some 4" by 4" shoring is tucked in between the first and second floors.
West Section, First Floor (2)
First floor areas: The removal of shoring from underneath the second floor opens the first floor. Here, some 4' by 8' plywood sheets from the concrete forms have been stacked for later use.
Central Section, First Floor

Library Mezzanine Area
Library Mezzanine (1)
Library Mezzanine: The library mezzanine is located about a half-floor above the second floor. The concrete forms include inserts for iron beams.

Western Section
Western Section (1)
Western Section: Installation of third-floor shoring has begun in the western part of construction, adjacent to the existing science building.

Bracket (1)
Northwestern Entrance: At the northern end of the 1964 building, the corridor will extend into the new construction. Each new beam will connect with brackets attached to the wall.
Bracket (2)
Northwestern Entrance: Two more brackets connect to beams on the western side of the corridor.

Eastern Section
South-east Section (1)
Southeastern Section: Forms provide the framework for beams and flooring throughout the eastern section. Further, a first layer of rebar is largely complete in the southern parts of the eastern section. Electrical conduit will come next, followed by a top layer of rebar for beams and mats.
South-east Section (2)
