Grinnell College and Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) have entered into an agreement to encourage qualified DMACC students to consider transferring to the national, private, four-year, liberal arts college in Central Iowa.Grinnell College President Raynard S. Kington and DMACC President Robert Denson signed the agreement on November 1 at the DMACC Urban Campus in Des Moines.

Articulation Agreement between DMACC and Grinnell

• Focuses on Associate of Arts (AA), although most STEM transfers would have earned an Associate of Science (AS)
• Specifies general education courses that might transfer
• Admission, Registrar, and CS faculty would review transcripts, if/when they were received
• In science:
  • Introduction chemistry at DMACC transfers as CMH-129
  • Introductory physics at DMACC transfers as PHY-131
  • Introductory psychology at DMACC transfers as PSY-113
  • DMACC's MAT157/BUS211 or MAT 160/BUS213 transfer as MAT 115
  • 100-level biology courses at DMACC do not transfer
  • Mathematics and computer science courses at DMACC should be discussed with Grinnell's departments
• "All Majors: Whether or not transferred courses will count toward a specific BC major or as a pre-requisite for major courses will be determined by the respective GC depatment after review of the course description and syllabus."

Summary: Grinnell's majors remain in tact, and little is specified about the relationship between DMACC courses and Grinnell courses
