Grinnell's CS Faculty
Grinnell's CS faculty came to Grinnell with at least two overwhelming interests:
-
Teaching: A deep love of teaching and learning (all could earn far more in
industry, but this is what they want to do)
-
Scholarship: A profound interest in learning more, breaking new ground
CS faculty at Grinnell often choose research/scholarship areas related
to teaching and learning
-
Rebelsky's research includes development of software environments and
materials to incorporate media scripting/image processing in
introductory CS (and progressively in other disciplines).
-
Davis's research on value-sensitive design and persuasive technology
utilizes computing and technology to address social issues
-
Weinman's research focuses upon text recognition using approaches from
artificial intelligence and computer vision
-
Stone's scholarship within system administration includes development of tools to
improve a networked environment for teaching and learning
-
Walker's scholarship often involves the development of large software
systems to support courses and/or educational endeavors.
All CS faculty seek to include students in aspects of their research
and scholarship
